 East Bound and Down

RIP "Snowman"

Jerry Reed

March 20, 1937 - Sept 1, 2008

"Jerry Reed starred with Burt Reynolds in several blockbuster movies, recorded three No. 1 country singles, wrote one of Elvis Presley's biggest hits and developed a fingerstyle guitar technique that other musicians are still analyzing to this day. When he died Monday (Sept. 1) at age 71, the entertainment world lost a genuine original who helped take country music and the country lifestyle to a larger mainstream audience...."

 The end of summer!!

Wow, is it really the last weekend of summer already??

I know this is terribly disappointing to some of you but I am ready for summer season to be over. The hotel doesn’t actually quiet down until late November but fall is at least somewhat quieter. I have gotten used to the "leaf peepers." Though, I am amazed that anyone would pay to go on a bus tour to look at leaves!!

This weekend I am looking forward to getting a few books at the library, tucking in and sleeping. Hubby volunteered to cover a shift on Sunday because one of his co-workers is seriously ill and another just returned to work after taking a week off (her husband died). So, I will probably hang out with him while he is working. Then on Monday we will finally get our laptop upgraded and I will be able to get online at home! Woo hoo!! LOL

Next weekend we have plans to go to the State of Maine Air Show. I am so looking forward to that!! This will probably be the final air show as the Brunswick Naval Air Base that hosts the event was one of the ones recently closed by the government.

Hope ya’ll have an enjoyable, safe weekend!

 Long time, no post

Wow, it’s been awhile…

I don’t know what to say about the wedding other than it was very disorganized. I haven’t even looked at the pictures or the video I took. I know what I am capable of and I don’t feel that I was able to meet my capabilities due to the situation. There were too many people putting in their 2 cents and distracting me   I think it will be a very long time before I offer to do anything remotely like this again. I have never really been interested in the professional aspect of photography anyway. It’s just something I enjoy and that I have fun with. I think its best left at that.

We finally got all $215 of our money back from Staples. I wish there was a site like TripAdvisor only for retail stores. The manager at the store is absolutely horrible. This weekend we will buy memory for the laptop from somewhere else and hopefully be back up and online again soon.

I am looking forward to a quiet weekend with hubby. Lonestar will be in Freeport this weekend giving a free concert at the LL Bean flagship store. I would like to go. Hubby would like to go to the drive in one more time before they close. And the last time I checked the weather there was rain/lightening in the forecast. I wonder who will win

I think I will head over and see how ya’ll are doing on your blogs. I know I have some comments to answer, please bear with me… I haven’t forgotten anyone. It’s just been a stressful, tiring couple of weeks.

 TGIF!!

TGIF!!

Now all I have to do is get through Friday night's rehearsal dinner and the wedding Saturday and this madness will be over and done with. Mental note: never, ever, ever agree to photograph anyone's wedding ever, ever again!!

Work has been wicked, crazy busy. People have just plain been mean or insanely stupid. Tis the season. I really think some people need a license to travel

I picked up my laptop from the service center on Wednesday. The diagnostics found 2 major problems. The first was an error in our operating system (no thanks to coworkers fiancé who admitted to "tweaking" it   and the second, the RAM that Staples installed was/is faulty. I’m not sure what I will do in regards to my coworkers fiancé but I have already dealt with Staples and they will begin kissing my ass tomorrow (there is so much drama re: Staples... they really screwed up on so many levels!) Bottom line- be incredibly careful about who works on your computer, keep detailed notes about who did what/when and all receipts. Oh yeah... and Staples Sucks!   Hubby will be taking a computer repair class starting in a couple weeks from the local adult ed program so hopefully no more drama.

Have a great weekend ya’ll and hopefully I will be around and posting more in the next couple days!

 Up, up and away!

I have decided this will be a happy post. There is just way too much drama right now in my life and I need this “fun spot.”

The balloon festival was AWESOME! Hubby and I got up at 4 am so that we could be there for the first launch of the day. We decided to have breakfast at the festival like we did last year. This could be the start of a really nice tradition One of the local booster clubs sets up a tent and the parents make pancakes and sausage… YUMMY!!

I got some really great shots! My manager was kind enough to let me use my work computer to download my pictures and burn them to disc. As soon as I get the chance to sort through them and tidy them up a bit I will post a few. I think I may have a couple that would be really great for the photo contest.

I did a little reading on this festival and found out that it’s not like most balloon festivals. From what I understand you cannot go onto the field with the balloon crew at most festivals. At this one you can literally walk up and touch the balloons if you want. I was taking some shots of this gorgeous rainbow colored balloon and the lady operating the fan asked me to come over to her. I looked around hoping I had not stepped on the balloon cord or the balloon equipment in some way- didn’t want to get in trouble   She asked if I would tell the guy in front of her that he needed to hold down the balloon cord. She had tried but he could not hear her for the noise of the fan. So I did and he didn’t understand what I meant so she looked at me and said, “hold this,” then walked over to him leaving me holding the control to the fan!

I would really love to gather up the courage to go on a balloon ride someday. I think at the least it would be really cool to volunteer to help crew a balloon. Or maybe I will win the lottery and just buy my own!

Here’s to a better week for all of us!
