Ghost Bride

 Another round of bits...

  • Will someone please go upstairs and turn off the water hose? I mean really... 2 straight weekends of rain... rain... and oh, yeah... rain... I know it could be worse... it could be those damn monsterous hurricanes *sigh*
  • Found another "new" restaurant... Buck's Naked BBQ in Freeport... four words... FRIED PICKLES ARE YUMMY!!... omg, I think I am addicted!!... and the pulled pork!
  • I have managed to get some of my friend's wedding pictures sorted, touched up and ready for printing... they are actually better than I had thought... I didnt know until 2 days before the wedding that her aunt is a professional photographer (she wont take pics for family anymore after one family member whined and complained too much)... anyway, I saw the pics she took... ummm... Im not trying to have a huge ego or anything but if that is what is considered professional I have no worries whatsoever...
  • the leaves are already starting to change color!! Yipppeee!! I am so excited! I cannot wait to get out and take some pictures!!
  • Im disappointed in the Bangor Visitors Bureau... I stumbled across what I thought would be an awesome Halloween tour and submitted my request 2 weeks ago to order tickets... I just checked online last night and they are sold out!... ummm, hello!... a phone call or email reply would have been nice... oh, it was the Tommyknockers bus tour and they take you around to all the Stephen King related sites in the area and past his house... ah, screw them!... I have his address and I pretty much know where the tour goes so we can do this ourselves! Hmmph!
  • I found a couple really cool sites for booklovers www.goodreads.com and www.bookcrossing.com
  • oh and if you live in a small apartment or have a roommate, etc this site is pretty cool too www.dormbuys.com
  • and if you feel like ohh'ing and ahhh'ing be sure to visit www.cuteoverload.com

***UPDATE***

Please keep my family and friends in your prayers... most of my family/friends live in the Cincinnati/Dayton, Ohio  area and I just learned that they sustained serious damage in a storm Sunday... most are without power for who knows how long... and I still have not heard from my cousin in Texas *sigh*

 Hurrican Ike

Hurricane Ike Prayer Request

My cousin, her husband and small children live near Houston. I was able to get in contact with her Friday morning and she has promised to email me again as soon as she can. Please say a prayer, send a kind thought, whatever you can for her and for all the 1.8 million (or more) people who are in the path of this monster.

Thank you,

Ghost Bride

 Bit and pieces of me

Once things quiet down at the hotel I will be able to post more but I thought until then I would “adopt” a different style of posting on my blog.

Welcome to Bits and Pieces of Me…

  • Haven’t been feeling so great… sleeping as much as possible… taking vitamins and such hoping to fix that… darn public!

  • Hubby one a web award for his artwork!!       He was voted the “Funniest Drunk Ducker” for his webcomic Grin-n-Spirit WAY TO GO HUBBY!!

  • Went on a spur of the moment trip to Bangor last Sunday… took pictures of the Paul Bunyan statue (will post later)… played a couple slot machines at Hollywood Slots (still wish I could a slot machine that actually uses quarters)… at the casino buffet… loved the chocolate fountain!!

  • Just barely missed hitting a moose on the way home Tuesday morning!!   I have lived in Maine 8 years now and that was my first encounter with a real moose! The poor thing had traffic backed up on both sides of I-95. Hubby hit the horn just as he crossed over into our lane and Mr. Moose decided to “turn tail and run” back into the woods.

  • Its only early Sept and I’m already sick of the political debates   Seems like everyone is a certified “know it all.”

  • Looking forward to Sunday… we are going up to hubby’s hometown for the fair… can’t wait for fair food!!... looking forward to fried clams and dough boys! Yummy!!... hoping that hubby’s brother and sister behave… things have been so great with the group of us since last Christmas   … I think I will just spoil my nephew and ignore the rest

  • Stumbled across something that I really want to do for my birthday… ever heard of the Mt Washington Auto Road in NH?... they offer a special snow coach that takes you up 4000ft between Dec – March… I want to go!!... My bday is in Jan and that would be just AWESOME!!... hopefully the weather isn’t too bad…

Time to catch up on a few blogs and then get back to work… Have a great weekend!!

Woo hoo it’s FRIDAY!!

 No Angels for me

blue_angels_san-fran.jpg

Remember the air show I mentioned earlier? Well, the Blue Angels will be performing at the show. I found out Monday night that they would be arriving 2 days early and would do a special flyover at 4 Maine landmarks, allowing enough time at each for photos. So, I borrowed a camera from my manager and made the decision to stay awake and go see the flyover. Hubby and I decided to go to Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth to watch. I would guess that maybe 200 people were gathered, among them small children and even a few from out of state. It must have been around 85 degrees outside. Now, keep in mind this is a Lighthouse which means we were on the coast, in the open. Translation, it was hot! The flyover was due between 10:30 – 11:30 am. At around 11:45 am someone yells to the crowd that they had just contacted Brunswick Naval Air Base and the flyover was cancelled!     Hubby and I start the walk back to our car and a cameraman for one of the local news crews informs us that they decided to continue on and will arrive in about 20 minutes. So we go back and wait. Most of the crowd has already left by now. Twenty minutes later we see them nearing the lighthouse. Less than 2 minutes later they were gone, show over.     According to the paper the next morning there was a fueling issue and the had cancelled the flyover until they recieved word that "1000 people were waiting at Portland Head Light" so they decided to just do a quick pass by to "avoid a public relations nightmare."     Ummm too late... people were pissed! Here's a thought for you... when you make a promise to do something special 1) plan ahead and make certain you have what is necessary to follow through and 2) dont dissapoint small children and those who have traveled many miles to see you. Well, unless you just dont care

So, anyway... Im not going to the air show this weekend. NOAA is predicting an 80% chance of a full on rain storm Saturday (afternoon/night) and again on Sunday. They wont be able to run the majority of the air show in the rain anyway.
