"Thank you for being a friend Traveled down the road and back again Your heart is true your a pal and a confidant.
And if you threw a party Invited everyone you ever knew You would see the biggest gift would be from me And the card attached would say thank you for being a friend."
Sorry I havent been around much. When I get home I just have no energy or desire to be online and when Im at work its so crazy busy that I dont have time be online . Summer season is certainly in full swing for those of us in the hospitality/tourism field.
Polar asked on her Friday questions if anyone has any pet peeves. Well, the state of Maine just hit a nerve with me this week! Ok, so this is the state known as "vacationland." Right now my brain is on overload so forgive me if I cannot quote accurately- but tourism I believe is this state's largest source of income. So, in light of the gas price problem, can someone please explain to me WHY the Maine Turnpike Authority has decided to start MAJOR construstion on LARGE portions of BOTH I-95 and 295?!?!!
The good news...
Hubby and I went to see a fireworks display last weekend in Scarborough, ME for their 350th Anniversary Celebration. What an awesome display! I actually got some really cool pics and when I permitted a moment of time I will try to post some Oh, and in 2 weeks hubby and I leave for a 4 day get-a-way in CT with one of our friends. We will be attending the anime convention, going to see the Titanic exhibit and to see the Carosel Museum. So, good times are still to come
I have to run for now but I will leave you with a song. I dont really like the artist anymore but the lyrics are good and a good reminder. So, here is Carrie Underwood with "So Small." (I actually like this video more than the one she made!)
Back in late May hubby and I attended a tourism conference to learn more about the region, the attractions and well, how to better promote both. For attending the conference we each recieved an Ambassador Pass permitting one free entry to the participating attractions/museums. We attended the same conference last year, recieved the same pass, had a blast, learned a lot and shared the wealth (of info) with our guests. This year... well, so far it has sucked.
The pass is only good for a set time. In this case 6 weeks. It has rained the last 4 weekends. This weekend the weather was finally right. So, we chose to take the Casco Bay Lines Bailey Island Cruise after work Saturday morning. What a complete waste of time! For my 30th birthday and my husband's birthday last year we went out on the ferry for a sunrise cruise. So, this is not our first time on the ferry but it may just be our last. The cruise lasts 5 hrs and 45 minutes and by the end of the cruise more than half of the passengers were either asleep, reading a book or completely bored beyond belief. The captain of the boat could not possibly have had more of a droning voice as she led us around the islands of Casco Bay. No enthusiasm whatsoever. At first I thought it was just our sour mood. When we approached the ticket counter the man told us that only 1 pass would be free and the 2nd pass would be the standard $22. Both of us attempted to explain to him that this pass is the equivalent of a Media/VIP pass and we only pay if we bring along a guest. This got us nowhere. (Yes, I will be speaking with the manager tomorrow!) We both agreed that we will not be recomending this particular tour.
